Street Team Ministry is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization primarily based in Topeka, Kansas, dedicated to reintegrating homeless individuals back into society and providing recovery support to those who need it. The ministry operates as a mobile outreach that "meets people where they are," providing both physical supplies and spiritual support.
Core Mission & Operations
The ministry follows a three-step approach to service:
-
Contact: Building trust-based relationships through consistent outreach in parks, shelters, and parking lots.
-
Connect: Acting as a bridge to local resources, including addiction recovery, mental health services, and housing assistance.
-
Commit: Providing long-term advocacy, such as helping with applications and following up during the reintegration process.
-
Key Activities
-
Street Outreach: Teams travel to encampments and public areas to distribute food, clothing, and hygiene kits.
-
Collaboration: The ministry works closely with the Topeka Rescue Mission and the Moving Ahead Partnership (MAP) to coordinate resources.
-
Spiritual Support: They offer prayer services and share the Gospel, often partnering with local churches for Friday night outreaches and Sunday services.
-
Recovery Focus: Many leaders and volunteers share personal testimonies of recovery to inspire those struggling with addiction.
As an all-volunteer organization, they rely on community donations for operational costs such as fuel for their outreach van, storage units, and insurance.
Our Key Initiatives
Outreach
Our team is often out on the streets distributing supplies, checking in on our unhoused neighbors and providing support and advice where we are able. Sometimes that's at midnight. Sometimes that's a noon.
Recovery Support

Service
You'll find our team serving meals at many community centers or right on the streets. You'll find us at food distribution events. We help with narcan distribution and set up informational tables at community events.
Spiritual mentoring
We believe all things can be done through Christ. If you need a mentor to support you through faith challenges, we are here. If you need a good church home or someone to pray with, we are here.
